Buffalo and Western New York has one of the largest Polonia communities
outside of Poland. In the 1990s, George Miecyjak of Compass Marketing
put together a (printed) Polish-American Business Directory to
promote Polish businesses and organizations to the Polonia community and
beyond. Fr. Matt Nycz (A Polish national at the time, now a US
citizen) created a vision for a central web portal for all things Polonia.
He shared this vision with George, Roger Puchalski of the Am-Pol Eagle, and
Ken Stuczynski of
Kentropolis Web Development & Design.
After much organizing, work, and seed money from Buffalo-Rzeszow Sister Cities, Inc.,
in December 2001, WNYPolonia.Com was born. A few years
later, the team decided to turn the project over to Kentropolis, to preserve
its goal of promoting and empowering Polonia online for all of the Western
new York community. The calendar was abandoned in favor of linking to
a long-existing
events list maintained by Judge Michael Pietruszka, and the news tab
takes you directly to the
Am-Pol Eagle.
Today, it continues as the home of the business directory, used by
thousands every month to find Polish-American businesses and people. We hope
you continue to find it useful, and we welcome input
from the community. Feel free to contact us at
